Session 2
My capstone audience will be for teachers, academic specialists and administrators. My Driving question is What is the impact of using technology to increase literacy for at risk students? My focus will be narrowed to a few different apps and the impact it has on the students. I will also be using other sources that tie into increasing literacy learning for primary grade students. My reasons for having teachers/educators as my audience is so they can become more educated in the topic I will present to them. My hope is that this capstone can be helpful and guide them in their practice. I want them feeling more comfortable about using technology in their classrooms to engage and help all students, especially those who are otherwise at risk and giving up. The content I will need on my sight to engage and teach my audience would be many visuals. Visual examples are important since many people are visual learners. I also know that many are auditory as well. I would like to have videos, graphics, assessments that are visually presented. A great explanation of TPACK using more visual auditory instead of an overload of text. My author's page will need to be personable yet professional. I don't think it needs to be loaded with text. I find that people skim read when text gets too long. In many ways on every page I believe less is more in the way that we can say a lot by showing examples and using infographics. In my learn more pages I would like to discuss why learning literacy in a new way such as with technology is important and the fact that it is engaging! I believe that all students learn best when they are engaged. At risk children have accelerated problems as it is with engagement and motivation so showing graphs/scores and statistics will help explain my reasoning with this population. I still want to make sure to keep the text at a minimum and visual examples a maximum.
