Continue building a bridge between your practice, your action research and what you are learning. Muse about anything that inspires you, observations, reflections, experiences, connections, dilemmas....what’s innovative about what you’re planning to do this semester? How are you thinking “outside the box”? I felt inspired to move on within my action research and open it up to studying more students who are low in literacy as well as being second language learners. My action research driving question is How will differentiating instruction using technology have a positive impact on students with special needs? I am considering changing it since I will include more students who are low but not necessarily considered students with special needs. How does teacher coaching enhance ELL literacy performance? My focus is using technology to enhance their literacy performance. I'm wondering if I should add the word "technology" into my driving question as I work on updating it to match my continued research. My students use iRead as part of their literacy program. After reviewing their scores, I would like to add some lessons that focus on what they need extra help in. I will work with them during small group intervention time. The innovative things that I plan to do this semester are using voice overs, google forms and different tools to enhance my teaching and student engagement. I feel like I'm thinking "outside the box" by not being exclusive this time and looking at how technology with a high visual approach impacts tier II students as well as students with special needs. The design thinking models I plan to connect to my teaching, is Clark's process and procedures. I will be using it in my methods during small group time. Clark states, "you will write a lesson objective at the application level that requires the learner to perform the procedure." I want my students to perform the procedures instead of just be able to recite them.
I have many things to work on and to consider as I work on my capstone. At the moment it does seem overwhelming but it will be exciting to have the finished product. I would like it to be useful to me in my future.
